DESCRIPTION
This system is used to perform inductive heating test system of low voltage, medium voltage and high voltage cables according to standards IEC 60840 and IEC 62067.
The system is composed from the following components:
- Power and control panel
- Single-phase heating cable transformer(s)
- Measuring and data-logger system
The power panel include the following functions:
o PLC full automatic control with possibility to set the impressed current and the test temperature of the cable
o Feeding of single-phase heating cable transformer(s) that can be realized in the following possibilities:
• Phase angle SCR module (standard type)
• Motorized voltage regulator (option)
• Digital voltage regulator (option)
o Measuring of the impressed current on the cable
o Measuring of the temperature of the cable with data-logger system
o Capacitive compensation circuit (option)
The single-phase heating cable transformer is realized only with one winding. The second winding is the cable to be tested.
To allow the insertion of the cable inside the transformer, the upper yoke can be easily removed.
The number of transformers necessary on the test circuit, depends from its geometry. The impressed test current depends from the insulation of the cable and its section.
According to our design, we prefer to use several small transformers on the test circuit to ensure a perfect distribution of the power and lower harmonic distortion.
The single-phase heating cable transformers are designed for continuous operation with max. ambient temperature of 45°C and for indoor/outdoor design.

The power panel can be designed to control up to four Single-phase heating cable transformers with total power up to 120 kVA.
The system can be completed with the following components:
- Medium voltage terminals up to 100 kV
- High voltage terminals up to 800 kV
- Step-up transformer to perform heating cycles
- Control and acquisition software to perform automatic thermic cycles on cables with a duration up to 12 months
- Feedback interface with another AME system that supply the image circuit to act on the main circuit in function of the temperature of the conductor of the image circuit.
