Reference capacitive optimized voltage dividers

APPLICATION
The reference capacitive smoothed dividers are used to measure the impulse voltage and AC voltage to convert high voltage into a measurable and elaborate value for a digital recorder.
The choice of high voltage and low voltage components allows a high precision with very fast response times.

The performance of a mixed capacitor is determined mainly by the damping of the high voltage circuit.
Our dividers are designed to meet all IEC 60060-2 requirements.

DESIGN
The high voltage capacitor is made of single units of ceramic capacitors immersed in oil. The capacitors of each single unit are connected in series with damping resistors.
All components are contained in cylinders made of fiberglass with metal flanges. The low voltage arm is placed at the lower part of the high voltage arm.
Its compact and coaxial design and its parallel configuration of low voltage capacitors provide an extremely low inductance value and a high protection against electrical interferences.

The termination resistor for connecting the measuring cable with 75 Ω impedance (triaxial) is included.

The divider must be connected to a high impedance measuring system (oscilloscope o digitizer with input impedance ≥ 1 M, ≤ 100 pF).

On the low voltage arm, there is a ground terminal that is made with 2 metal plates to optimize the ground connection through copper strips

At the top of the high voltage arm, is located the top electrode.

Above the toroid of the top electrode is placed the external damping resistor.

The top electrode is designed and optimized for nominal voltages and standard waveforms.

These types of dividers are designed to be extremely performing and lightweight to facilitate transportation.
The dividers ≥ 200kV can be split into two units to make its transport extremely easy.

The reference measuring system is composed by:

  • High voltage arm
  • Base frame with wheels
  • Low voltage arm mounted on the base frame
  • Measuring cable (Triax type, Z = 75 Ω, l = 15 to 35 m)
  • High voltage and earthing connections
  • High voltage electrode
  • Technical documentation
  • Service manual
  • ACCREDIA Certificate of Calibration

CALIBRATION
Resistive Reference Voltage Dividers are calibrated by the ACCREDIA accredited laboratory RSE in Italy. The calibration is certified by the ACCREDIA calibration certificate.
The ACCREDIA is signatory to the multilateral agreements of the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) for the mutual recognition of calibration certificates.
It is necessary to calibrate the Resistive Reference Voltage Dividers together with the instrument (oscilloscope or digitizer) which will be used together with the divider.
